Period Pouch Program

Our Period Pouch Program was created when concerned mothers learned their daughters were struggling to access feminine hygiene while at school, experiencing their menstrual cycle unexpectedly or unpreparedly, some for the very first time. With continued research and conversations, we would learn that the staff was using their personal finances to make these items accessible. At no fault to the schools, we wanted to work with school administrators and nurses to provide these items at no charge to any of them.

To start, we began providing our pouches to the Lakeland Joint School District. As word would spread, we expanded our program, working with the West Bonner School District and the CDA School District.

What began with a small, discreet pouch, filled with feminine hygiene products, would later evolve and grow into a 3-tier utility cart, stationed in girls restrooms, filled with products for them to access as needed.

The growing success of this program has only been made possible by passionate volunteers, a wonderful collaboration/relationship with area schools, and generous donors/sponsors who support the work we do for young women.

The generosity of our sponsorship donated by Kootenai Health will allow us to grow this program, outside of the Lakeland Joint School District and into the Coeur d'Alene School District, making free feminine hygiene more accessible to the young women who need it.
